[Chise thinks for a moment.] What takes the longest is waiting for it to settle and mix, I think. We did all the ‘hard’ work that day we put them together, then it’s a matter of waiting.

Though… I suppose waiting can be its own form of difficulty for some people.

[She smiles, taking a sip of tea.] I like to check on them every now and then, just in case the seal would become loose, but these ones turned out well.

[Eilonwy laughs, luckily before she can eat or drink anything.] It can be, yes! If there were a prize for not wanting to wait, I can think of three people who could win.

[One of those is herself, Eilonwy can be impatient at times, she knows this.] Right- it reminds me of storing grain. You have to make sure it's sealed properly to keep it from spoiling. I didn't know the seals could loosen on their own, though.

[Chise would have felt awful had Eilonwy gotten her outfit spoiled, even if it was for a bit of laughter. Thankfully, it was timed better, so good times were had instead.]

Just three? Though… I suppose there is first, second, and third place most often, yes?

[Impatience wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Chise herself often had her body moving before her mind… which was something she had to learn to undo most of the time. It was still a work in progress.]

It isn’t too common, though I suppose with temperature fluctuations and the air inside potentially expanding… I was more concerned, in this case, since I had to move the jars from my previous Cottage during their fermentation.

[Thankfully, they shouldn’t have to worry about the lids popping off anytime soon now!]

Well. Three to start, more if I thought about it long enough, maybe.

[Eilonwy has some of her tea and admires the jar.] Glass is surprisingly sturdy- even I'm not used to it yet, and Prydain uses glass in a number of things. Even here there are things I'm not used to. We do make potpourri but it's usually stored in small cloth bags and hung in the rafters. Or put with clothing to help it smell better between washing.

[Wasn’t that the truth? And really, didn’t everyone have that kind of streak in them at some point in life?

That might be getting too philosophical - at least for a friendly gathering over tea!]

It can be used for that too. I know, once the mixture sets, I tend to put it into pouches to distribute. After a while, the scent fades, but it does help to have it in a more manageable form. [She can’t imagine how heavy it would get if she carried glass jars around everywhere. Not to mention dangerous, when they didn’t know if another unexpected situation might pop up here.] I… didn’t think about the fact that glass might be newer. To me, it’s something used so often where I come from. But Prydain is different, isn’t it?

[The pivot from almost philosophical to just standard chatting is appreciated. Eilonwy has some of her tea.] We don't use it for jars as much as for windows! But we have glass blowers, of course. Most of our jars are either clay or iron.

[Sometimes, it was best just to chat about the enjoyable things in life! It was something she could appreciate with Eilonwy - having a friend that she could rely on for both the mundane and the hardships they faced here.

Do you have stained glass windows there? I’ve mostly seen them in the churches and older structures in England, but the different colors and designs really stand out. And iron… I feel like that might be more rigorous of a process to shape into jars, though I’m sure the craftsmen are quite skilled at it? Iron doesn’t agree with the fae in my home though, so Elias makes sure to not keep any around.

Some! Not as many as other places- but we do have them. Simple designs and some of the colors only look right at specific times of the year because of the light, but they're nice to look at. Iron jars take more work, you're right, but they're also stronger than clay.
